Mahé is the largest of the Seychelles islands and encompasses the country's international airport as well as its capital, the surprisingly quiet and peaceful town of Victoria, home to roughly a third of the national population, as well as many good restaurants and entertainment venues. Mahe has a mountainous interior characterised by dense tropical forests and stony outcrops, while its coast is blessed with around 75 beautiful beaches. The best known of these is the idyllic, white-sand Beau Vallon, fringed by deep bays that offer excellent swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.

Please note that a new tourism levy will be introduced from 1 August 2023. Under the newly introduced levy, all visitors to Seychelles will be required to contribute on a per person/per night basis. The payment will be made in-destination, directly to your hotel. Levy charges will be applied according to a 3-tiered approach in-line with hotel classification.
The levy charges are as follows:
SCR 25 (USD 2) – small hotels (1-24 rooms)
SCR 75 (USD 6) – medium-sized hotels (25 – 50 rooms)
SCR 100 (USD 8) – large hotels (51+ rooms, island resorts*, yachts)
Children under 12 will be exempt from the levy.
