Guyana

Guyana is an untouched wilderness located between Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname in the Northeast of the continent. Relatively few travellers have visited this pristine and unspoilt destination with amazing bio-diversity of over 800 species of birds and hundreds of species of mammals and reptiles. Here you can see the Neo-tropical ‘big five’ – jaguar, giant river otter, giant anteater, black caiman and harpy eagle. From breathtaking waterfalls and spectacular wilderness scenery, to community tourism in indigenous villages, Guyana will provide a real adventure. We can arrange tours which combine Guyana with French Guiana, Suriname, Brazil and Venezuela. Please contact us for a tailor made itinerary.

Kaieteur Falls

Located 150 miles southwest of Georgetown and five times the height of Niagara Falls, the Kaieteur Falls are breathtaking.

Iwokrama

Iwokrama is an area in the central rainforest dedicated to conservation and sustainable development of the forest. This area is a great place to try and spot the elusive jaguar. Within the Iwokrama forest is a canopy walkway, 30 metres in height and 154 metres in length, offering visitors an insight into the mid and upper canopy layer.

Surama

The Amerindian village of Surama is set in 5 square miles of Savannah and borders the Iwokrama International Centre for Conservation and Development. The idyllic location is a base for night walks, dawn canoe floats on the river with opportunities to see wildlife including giant river otters, tapir, spider monkeys and dawn hikes across the savannah with fantastic vistas. All of the tours are lead by local guides who have an incredible knowledge of the flora and fauna.

Karanumbu

Located in central Guyana, close to the Brazilian border, the village of Karanumbu is home to the Karanumbu Trust which has the aim of protecting the giant river otter and its habitat.
