Guided Day Hikes - Gross Morne National Park


Guided day hikes summit Gros Morne Mountain, traverse the earth's mantle of the Tablelands, explore the Green Garden's volcanic coastline, and reach the Big Lookout for the best panoramic view of Gros Morne National Park.


Hiking adventures are led by professional guides and offer hikers a great opportunity to see wildlife, unravel the mysteries of Gros Morne's geology and flora, and learn about the cultural history of the area.

6 nights' accommodation at the Gros Morne Inn 


Each generously proportioned guest room is designed with the surrounding environment in mind, featuring local wildlife and marine artwork layered with a cool colour palette. Take in ocean and mountain views in each of the 15 guest rooms as natural light pours in from over-sized picture windows. Modern light fixtures and clean lines offer a peaceful retreat from daily adventures in the park. Rooms have a French coffee press, supplied Gros Morne coffee and Newfoundland chocolates, along with a mini fridge that will have milk, cream and water.

Overview


Gros Morne has some of the best coastal and mountain hiking in eastern North America. Guided and unguided day hikes of varying difficulty are available throughout the 1805 square kilometre park. Caribou, arctic hares, whales, seals and moose are often sighted.


Day by Day Itinerary


DAY 1 – ARRIVE AT GROS MORNE INN

Arriving at the Inn, check-in and meet your hosts before getting settled. Take some time to unwind in the Canadian-made, panoramic Western cedar barrel sauna with magnificent views of the park through the full-size dome window. Or soak the stress away in a cedar hot tub, providing a soothing hydrotherapy experience.


Cap the day off with a delicious, gourmet meal at the onsite Table Restaurant, combining elegance, exquisite views and epicurean delights.

DAY 2 – GROS MORNE INN

After breakfast, embark on a full-day guided hike to one of the amazing and challenging peaks in the park, featuring views of this UNESCO World Heritage sites like no other.


After included transportation to the departure point, a professional guide conducts the hike focusing on the lesser-known aspects of the park, its geology and history. The terrain varies from scree (a mass of small loose stones that form or cover a slope on a mountain.) loose stones, rocks, bogs,

fields, forests. With the trail and length tailored to your experience and fitness level, it will deliver a day of unforgettable outdoor adventure!


After returning to the inn, depart on a seaside food tour* starting at 17:00, featuring three of the top restaurants in Woody Point showcasing unique

Newfoundland-focused menus with a wine/ drink pairing. Breakfast, packed lunch and evening food tour included.

*The food tour runs Mon, Wed, Fri. The tour will take place on either Day 1 or Day 2.

 

DAY 3 – END OF PACKAGE

After breakfast, check out of the inn with a departing treat of a gourmet packed lunch to enjoy later in the day.

SPECIAL NOTES

Half-day hikes are approximately 3-4 hours, full day 6-8 hours, depending on the number of stops and the group.

Groups are small and the tour guide will pace the hikes individually by group. For moderate hikes, participants must be able to walk moderately and be able to walk on uneven terrain. Challenging hikes require participants to have hiking experience; they are very challenging.
